Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech – Telouet – Ouarzazate – Skoura

Leave the ochre-colored city of Marrakech behind and head towards the spectacular Tizi n'Tichka pass while observing everyday life in remote rural villages. In the afternoon, visit the fascinating UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Ksar of Ait Benhaddou, one of the finest examples of South Moroccan architecture and home to one of Morocco's well-preserved kasbahs. Your journey continues via Ouarzazate, known as the Hollywood of Africa due to movies like Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, and Star Wars being filmed there. Today you will stay overnight in Skoura, a fertile oasis lined with immense palm groves that provide great views of the Atlas Mountains. Overnight at a Boutique Riad or Hotel in Skoura

Day 2: Dades Valley – Todgha Gorge – Erfoud – Merzouga Sahara Desert

Today, explore the famous Kasbah Amridil, then head towards the road of a thousand Kasbahs to the Sahara Desert. En route, pass through the dry, rugged Boumalne Dades. Todra Gorge, known as the 'Grand Canyon of the Sahara,' is a massive trench that rises over 300 meters to form one of the most dramatic and breathtaking natural sights in Morocco. The limestone stacks provide an excellent area for hiking, and today you will take a short walk through the sheer cliffs. In the late afternoon, you will settle into the luxury desert camp in Merzouga. The stunning reddish-hued sand dunes can reach up to 150 meters high, creating an otherworldly landscape. Enjoy a camel ride of around 45 minutes during sunset. Then, return to your camp for a traditional dinner by a campfire. Slumber tonight in comfort, listening to the sounds of the desert. Overnight at a Boutique Riad or Hotel in Merzouga (Sahara desert)

Day 3: Sahara Desert Exploration

Today, we will explore the Erg Chebbi dunes by 4WD. On the tour, we will visit the oasis of Merzouga and Khamlia Village, where you can hear Gnaoua music from the local people who are descendants of ex-slaves that found their way to Morocco from Senegal via the Salt Route. We will continue to meet desert nomads in their tents and discover their way of life. We will also visit the nearby Lake of Merzouga, with its diverse population of birds (weather dependent). Afterwards, we will leave for Rissani. Once called Sijilmassa, this was the meeting place for the salt caravans coming from Timbuktu, Mali. Here, you'll be able to walk through the largest souk in the south, where you can find spices, vegetables, cloth, and possibly see livestock and camels being traded. After lunch, there will be time to relax by the pool or alternatively enjoy a quad bike or dune buggy experience in the dunes before we set off to Kasbah Hotel near the sand dunes. Overnight at a Boutique Riad or Hotel in Merzouga (Sahara desert)

Day 4: Rissani – Al Nkoube – Agdz – Ait Ben Haddou

Today, we will explore one of the famous cities in the south of Morocco, Rissani. This location, at the gates of the desert and at the crossroads of two of the most important trans-Saharan routes, was the major reason for building the tradepost of Sijilmasa here in the middle of the 8th century on the outskirts of modern-day Rissani. After that, we will continue to Nkoube for a lunch break. Then we head to a lonely stretch of desert road in southeastern Morocco where Alnif and the surrounding basin is the best place in Morocco, and one of the most renowned in the world, for collecting the prehistoric creatures known as trilobites. After enjoying our time there, we continue to Agdz. The city lies at the foot of Djebel Kissane and on the banks of the river Draa. A long oasis stretches between Agdz and Zagora. Villages have been built around the old kasbahs, and green palm groves are spread along the road. Overnight at a Boutique Riad or Hotel in Ait Ben Haddou

Day 5: Ait Ben Haddou to Marrakech

After our breakfast, we will leave the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah to join one of the amazing villages in the middle of the High Atlas Mountains called Telouet with a beautiful Kasbah of Telouet where we will enjoy the visit. After an unforgettable visit, we continue to Ait Barka village where we will stop for a lunch break before reaching Marrakech, ending our trip.
